Kirriemuir

Royal Photographic Society
Scotland
Our original plan was to visit the Camera Obscura just outside Kirriemuir, but the volunteers we met were so friendly and helpful, advising us to visit the town to do some souvenir shopping, that we couldn't resist.
J.M. Barrie donated this Camera Obscura to the Town, and after a few breaks in use, the townsfolk now operate the interesting historic setup on a totally volunteer basis.
Parking our motorhome in the town centre was easy, and free (unlike so many towns), so we started out in good spirits to explore.
Nothing disappointed.
The central square with its statue of Peter Pan (this is the home town of J.M. Barrie), the museum full of interesting information (including a section about Bon Scott, another famous son of Kirriemuir) and the friendly locals all combined to make this a lovely visit.
